Suppose to pick my favourites Grey tone at first, but since they provide Orange colour reflective materials, so no harm to try. As I always link Orange or Red for a Nike's character. Hehee.. The Smurfs kinda Birthday Party

It happen last weekend that I attended a baby boy's 1st birthday. The parents have set a theme attire for us, by wearing blue. Ok, that sounds easy. But when I been telling that its some kinda 'Smurfs' party, honestly I was like 'Yuck'! To me it was annoying enough even only the Smurfs movie poster. But sometime things are really fun when you didn't expect too much. It happen when this 10kg birthday cake arrived, and that was some kinda jaw dropping moment...

The creator or cake master behind. With his creativity only he himself knows the way to cut the cake. Hahaa.. Anyways, taste are no too bad either compare with the looks.

DIY: Christmas Sneakers

Stayed in my things-to-do list for some time. Finally, took me a few hours to do it, and everyday to admire it! Hehee.. This is an old hi-cut sneaker from 5cm (a sub label from i.t), got it few years ago in Hong Kong. Still remember been devilish by Smarter b when doing his serious shopping during his visit. Hmm.. But now the silver material has already faded (as you can see in first pic), make it looks more like a history piece. So didn't wear it for a very.. long time. Since Christmas is around, add up a reason to make it a shoe to wear for the celebration...

Here goes my 'new' Christmas sneakers! Successfully Reborn! Cheers!!

After the Penang Bridge Half Marathon 2011, I just manage to pull out some time to write this post as my last chapter.

Yes, three of us had make it within the qualify time and get our very first precious finisher medal. It means a lot to us and the happiness is unspeakable.

Is a persistent that made up of us come until this stage. Of course, there were some time that I think about give to give up during the mid training, but I know that if I were to give up, I will be regret for my whole life when I think about it.

Above the quote was in mine mind whenever I'm thinking to skip for my training schedule or to stop running in the middle of my long distance run.

As I recall from an old article saying; "We learned to put up or keep add on things we love before the age of 40, and we learned to remove or reduce and left things we need after the age of 40". Almost like the KISS principle (Keep It Short and Simple) to me. And below is the item that matched the idea! It always give me the easiest right answer when im in a styling dilemma or selection phobia. Also my best travel companion when it only allow me to bring one sneakers. You can just wear any style with it without looking weird, and this is my magic shoes - CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STAR

The Above black one is the most basic design. Got it 2 years ago in Hong Kong, you can get the best price, sizes and models there. I picked leather model for more lasting and a bit characters when it aged like denim.

Just received this all white long waited model last few days. Hmm.. laws of attraction did a little help on this one! And found out both arrived to me exactly the same day; 16th November, in 2 years distance. I try to believe that there are something other than coincident. LOL~ So I fixed 16th of November as my Converse Day! Wear only Converse on this special day from now on! DEAL!

As per request below is the measured route. I would suggest to find another route which got high elevation. For example, Youth Park / Botanical Garden. More fresh air instead of car smoke.

Here is the third plan. Starting and ending point at Gurney Drive roundabout. We make turn in front Tanjung Bungah Floating Mosque (opposite Ratu). Proceed to 20KM+ with a little steep challenge? Smarter Ping, calculation again please... Hope we can complete this before the race.

Night Run Plan #2 Summary update

Still 3 of us wake up very early in the morning with full gear. Straits Quay is our starting point and also our ending point.

Before running. Still very energetic and exciting.

After running. All look like zombies.

Overall summary, Kiv & Scwa was running with a very fast pace from their usual pace. This running is quite tough for them as they had not being run for such long distance before. Both of them have a very strong mental as they run all the way without stopping although they are very exhausted. The more brave thing they do is, they run without water. How long they run for this route? 2hr 20min. What about me? ermm....2hr 33min hehehe....

Chapter 4: The adjustment

From my 1st run and my 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on. I had make a lot of adjustment that base on "Pro Runner" advise and my personal research (from the web) and testing.

Below is the adjustment that i had gone thru:

Running Shoe:
My 1st run's running shoe was simply a pickup from my shoes rack without a thought as i use to think that as long as you had a pair of cover sneakers, then you are ready to go.

After several running, i began to feel arch pain on my feet. After consultation by "Pro Runner" it was due to unsuitable running shoes.

After several research, i had choose the running shoes that is meeting my requirements and style. "NIKE LUNAR GLIDE+ 3 ".

Breathing:
My initial 3 miles long distance run was a disaster, feeling like not enough oxygen and very exhausted. I was not aware until i consult "Pro runner" again, it was due to my breath in and out with nose. The right method on giving you more oxygen is to breath in and out with your mouth via stomach and not your lung. It is not easy but it definitely helps.

Pace:
Your running speed. Well trained or experience runner eventually will had faster and consistent pace during their running. I was not aware until i hit the wall (it means, you cant break thru your running mileage) and very exaushted after 3 miles and the rest of the ongoing miles was walking and cannot go on.

After research, i only realize that a correct pace for a biginner is while you are running, you still can talk with your running partner easily without loosing your breath. But!!! What if you are running alone??!!!! Well, you can test it by said to yourself "A,B,C,D...."

You can keep pushing yourself for better pace during your running from time to time. You never push, you never know how your body and mind can handle it. So keep running and keep pushing.

A little advise from my personel experience. Sometime or maybe most of the time, our body still can handle or cope with the tension, but our mind will stop us and keep on giving us a lot of execuses just to stop it.

So believe yourself so that you wont get twisted by your mind.

Stride:
Endurance come first before speed. The more stride you have in your run the less injure impact for your leg and the more acid lactic on your leg will be created to cope with your long distance run. Keep your pace and stride consistent and it will definitely improve your running :)

Running form:
Good running form is very important to reduce your body impact. As normal standard, your body should lean forward a little bit until you feel that your leg is about to move forward to keep your body balance, your eye should look straight forward and leg require to bent a little bit during running. During your foot stride, you should always stride it with your mid foot instead of your back foot so that your back won't injured.

Diet & water:
My 1st miles until 2nd,3rd and 4th run is running with empty stomach and not carrying any water. This practice had causing me hitting the wall when i want to increase my running mileage and it require more then 1hr. This is because I m too hungry and dehydrated. Site stitch, leg feeling tension (going to cramp) and body feeling not enough energy to push further.

The situation change after I consult my "Pro Runner" and do some research on the Internet. Below is my diet and hydration plan.

During post running (1 week before my Saturday long distance run training), i drink plenty of water and assure I m always not feeling thirsty or my urine is clear without light yellow. I ate a lot of food that can provide me more carb, e.g. Potatoes, rice and bread. No spicy food and no alcohol drinks.

My training always schedule in the morning. Before I take off, I will eat 4 pieces of biscuit with peanut butter jam, I cup of milk (prefer chocolate milk) and I cup of almonds drinks. I will bring along 500ml water and 500ml Gatorade (grapes flavor).

During running, I will start to sip some water to keep myself stay away from
dehydrated.

After the running, I will drink my Gatorade. Rest for while and I will go for breakfast. This is one of the session that I like the most, I can eat anything I want. After shower, I drink 1 cup of chocolate milk and 2 cup of ice-green tea. Then I will start to sip water again to replenish my water.

The more you run the more you understand yourself. Listen to your body and make adjustment accordingly.

The 10K running is really a good experience for me and Kiv before our "2011 Penang Bridge Half Marathon". Both of us do gain a lot of experience on this event. Overall results is good as we finished it within the qualify time. Especially Kiv, finished the 10K with 1hr time. Is a very good results for him as he had being train just in a very short time.

I thought that i wouldn't have chance to get the top 500 finisher medal as a lot of experience and pro runner was joining this competition. So luckily that i able to reach the finish line as 499th to grab this finisher medal. It would be my very best motivation.

Personal thought of the moment. In running, how hard you being train = what is the result you get. You are on your own and you cant compete with others but only can compete with yourself. Run for health and enjoy your run.

Kiv and I will continue to train for our "2011 Penang Bridge Half Marathon" and we will continue to enjoy our every run. How about you? do you run today or planning any run for the coming weekend?

Chapter 3: The 1st miles, 2nd miles and ...

Still remember early in the morning when my feet was at "Padang Polo", the air was so fresh and it was so quite. Seeing some people already running and some is walking.

After some unformal stretching, i began to run slowly with a shy and exciting feeling. The 1st run have a very easy finished at 2.48miles without any pain feeling.

The next day morning wake up, i feel like want to give up as my body and leg was so pain and damm...tired. A lot of excuses come into my mind just to ask for skipping my recovery run.

In the progress of fighting my mind for those excuses, cant believe that i already at the field. Since i already there, i tiredly and super slowly finished my 15min recovery run. After the recovery run, so amazingly that the pain was dramatically reduce and i feel more energetic. From that moment onwards, i started to believe it which i thought it was insane earlier when the "Pro Runner" explain to me about the recovery run.

Kinda my album of the month. Keep playing in car and ipod while working. This is Olivia Ong's latest album, also my first time listening her full album. Makes me searching back for her old tracks... This happen before like I just started to listen Tanya Chua.

Beside that, I really don't buy the idea from our Chinese music industry. The album size are getting bigger n bigger or weird to me. Yeah, maybe they could create some effects or impact on display, but can the company also come out a 'normal' edition? At least to cater those who still buy or listen or collect CD? After the discussion, we never mention anything and talk about it anymore.

On 22 July 2011, i received an email from "Pro Runner". When i open it, i get shock! It was the schedule. He then walk to my cubicle and said "Well, now is the time to start your training. Must start now else it will be too late".

Beginner's half marathon training schedule:

He then show me the application "iMapMyRun" that can install in iphone to track the running distance,your running pace and how to use the map to measure your route distance and choose the appropriate trainning location.

After download the software I was a little bit nervous because the weekend about to come and i know that i must get my training route before i can start my 1st training session.

I'm using 2 hr to look for the training location thru the map that near my home, at the same time the distance and place must suit to my training condition. After measure the distance and its location, i choose "Padang Polo". A very big round shape field for me to run looping.

Chapter 1: Is it too late?

I'm not sure since when i start to have interesting on running, maybe during the time i bought a book that talked about running last year? Or maybe something else which i cant be sure(but i did not read it immediately after i bought it. I only read it after i begin my half marathon training).

All the while running for me is very tough and meaningless compare to other sports like football. Is very impossible for me to enjoy running. Furthermore a weight like me 95KG going for running is like looking for a trouble for myself. Might as well go for swimming.

The day that i decided for running is very simply drama. Like usual, every morning, i will have my breakfast together with my colleague in our office canteen. 1 of my colleague ( Pro long distance runner) told us that 2011 PENANG BRIDGE MARATHON is open for registration and the others start to share about their experience on last year PENANG BRIDGE MARATHON.

All was very exciting and laughing until i post a question to the "Pro Runner", "would it be too late for me to start training for half marathon?". Everyone was shock in their face and look at me. The "Pro Runner" was very happy and encouraging me "ofcourse not. You still have plenty of time. I will send you the schedule".

And this is my journey begin...

After my Sunday long distance run (7 miles) with smarter Kiv, the next day morning i go for my 30min recovery run.

I still remember my 1st recovery run is a disaster. Tired and serious knee pain, but i m glad that i m able break thru my very 1st obstacle by finish a 20min recovery run.

I will be sharing my journey of my very 1st marathon soon, so stay tune :)

Anyway, is good to touch the ground and run.

He is in full gear with his Nike+ and Apple stuff...etc. Packed in with determination and passion as well! And below is the distance between Pro and Amateur. lol~ Ok although it sounds a little crazy, but we are preparing for this; 21KM... fingers cross!!

By the way, the brand name actually came from one of their well known beaches in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And you can see the origin of their beautiful sole patterns.

365 Polo Shirts

Just found out when mum asking; "why you keep buying polos recently?" Then I figure out, since I can wear it anywhere, anytime, so why not? ehehee.. And mostly because the country we live in is Summer 365. Hmm.. Make this a must have item to look effortlessly cool n smart all day!

1. My fav touch of navy or Breton stripe, the colour combination are just right. From COTTON ON.

2&3. A contrast selection, Green (near to mint) and Red. Basic, plain, no-nonsense type, cutting are perfectly fitted as usual. Both from UNIQLO.

4. Talking about polo shirt, how can we miss this, without him, that wont be an item or a post like this. A lighter yellow just suit the weather here! From LACOSTE.

5. Since i already mentioned Lacoste, that would be a mistake if I skip him. They are the classic duo in polo shirt to me. And this is currently my most lovely colour combi from Fred Perry, oh wait, where goes the laurel wreath?? LOL~ Yeah, this is not a Fred, just carrying a similar cutting and design. And a gift from Scwa, truly my cup of tea and thanks!! Surprisingly from GIORDANO.

Lastly, or the next polo in my wishlist is something looks like the left pure Blue one, to complete this image below in my mind. The tri-colour or my French code. hehehe..

For those who consider a DSLR, or maybe a SONY NEX, or looking forward to upgrading your Prosumers like Canon G12, S95, Lumix LX5... etc. Then this is something like another good choice.

Panasonic LUMIX GF3, read the details or review. Did discuss about it 2 years ago... Time flies, especially on gadget thing. Every popular items are seems like practicing a 12 months cycle? (like the "i" stuff and more). It still good for consumer like us, at least we can choose and compare. To me, this Lumix GF3 is kinda impressive but need to really hands on and test. See it can top my list from Ricoh GXR (which now Smarter b is using, hate him! lol~) in interchangeable lens category.

And I don't know why PHAIDON didn't bring him in; 黒澤明 Akira Kurosawa. With the same theme, I thought it was in the series at first. Anyway RIZZOLI is the publisher.

An unexpected goodies arrived from HK. Well anything from him will make me cheers for the whole day. And this is his latest mini live in dvd. Where he did in a auditorium at HK Polytechnic University back in March'11. Always love this kind of mini live concert that is more closer and interactive between the performer n audiences. And he also performs all the new songs from his recent 2 eps. Some warm up before the coming concert. hehehe.. More info about the dvd here.

The above article I read from GQ earlier which makes me excited and waited for a few months. And recently found the bellow shirt at our local label SEED from PADINI. I was like finally... here it come, my long waited design; the 'Club-Collar' shirt! But wait, when i zoom into details... Its actually more to a 'Shawl-Collar'. Sigh... Well shawl collar shirt might not be my No.1, but it seems like even harder to find compare with club collar (I mean in Malaysia). Anyway its still a fresh meat in my shirt selection.

Joining it with classic oxford, and i was like falling in love at first sight. Its getting more serious during a SALE, 50%, so what else? Grab it and move into detailsss...

I just couldn't resist on every little details from top to bottom, front and back, so much of good feeling on it! To me, details is like attitude, and attitude is everything. hehee.. Btw, Smarter Scwa told me he owns a similar white one, hmm.. I really don't mind if you make it as a present when you feel bored on wearing it or nearly worn out. lol~

France (FFF) Away Shirt 2011/12

Wanna make this post for some time, laziness keep dragging me. hehee.. Anyway, this would be the part 2 of the previous home version. The French Football Federation and Nike launched their new away shirt during March 2011. And they have invited the style icon Karl Lagerfeld to unveil the project and took the photos. (also my wallpaper lately!)

The concept came from a French timeless classic; marine/navy/breton stripe, either what you called it. It first appeared as the uniform of sailors in the French navy at 19th century and was first seen in civilian wardrobes in the early 20th century. Strongly represent the free-spirited individuals in French culture, and also the FFF and Nike overall campaign titled 'Vive Le Football Libre'.

Honestly these are those rarely found football shirts that looks great in both home and away version, and I mean both appeared in the same time. The recent one that I could recall was this, and I hope France could make the difference with the English team (England got the best designed kits but making the worst performance in 2010).

Lastly, to make it simple, I want both, home and away. ahahaa... Another 2 items to squeeze in my football wishlist! LOL~
